The CoffeeSeller guide to drinks!
If you're new to the world of coffee then just picking what you want to drink can seem like a daunting task. Hopefully this little blog will give you an overview of all the drinks you can get from most of our commercial coffee machines!
Espresso:
An espresso is the purest form of coffee. The espresso is the foundation for nearly all drinks. It is created by forcing high pressure water through ground or instant coffee beans. A good/fresh espresso will have a thick golden crema on top.
Ristretto:
Not for the faint hearted, the ristresso uses the same amount of ground coffee as an espresso but half the amount of the water. Very Strong!
Black Coffee/Americano
Basically a watered down espresso! Perfect for those who want to enjoy a strong tasting coffee but want something a little bigger than an espresso and not as strong!
Best french press coffee maker is a device which captures most of the coffee flavour and oils from the beans which gives a better bolder and fuller flavour. The french press has become one of the most favourite coffee makers across the world.
Milk based Drinks
This is where it gets confusing as not many people understand the difference between cappuccinos & lattes! Hopefully I can help clear things up:
Cappuccino
A standard cappuccino consists of the following:
- 1/3 Espresso
- 1/3 Steamed Milk
- 1/3 Froth
Cappuccino can be recognised often by the quantity of foam served on top of the drink. When the milk is being steamed the barista will incorporate a greater amount of air into the milk, this in turn creates a greater quantity of foam.
Latte
It can get a bit peculiar with latte's as they are different everywhere you go. On average a latte will be steamed milk with a shot of coffee and then topped with some milk foam. Although, sometimes there is no milk foam. Another great drink for someone who doesn't like a strong coffee.
Cafe Mocha/Mochaccino
An absolutely delicious combination of tastes. Fresh hot chocolate mixed with milk and coffee! Okay so it is my personal favourite so I am a little biased. But seriously, next time you are near a coffee machine you have to try this! Best enjoyed on a cold day and topped with fresh whipped cream!
Hot Chocolate
Okay so not strictly a coffee but it does deserve a slot in this list. It is a drink that needs no explanation.
